What makes Franschhoek special
Franschhoek is the smallest of the Cape's major wine valleys but punches highest on food. La Petite Colombe, La Colombe, The Werf at Boschendal and Babel at Babylonstoren all sit within 15 minutes of each other. Cap Classique — South Africa's bottle-fermented sparkling — was effectively born here at Haute Cabrière.
Compared to Stellenbosch, Franschhoek is more walkable, more boutique and more food-driven. It's the easiest valley to spend a full, indulgent day in.
