Which Cape Town kayaking trip suits you?

Our paddles run in three areas — the Cape Peninsula and False Bay, the West Coast, and Hermanus on the Whale Coast. They differ mainly by launch point, time on the water and how much ocean experience you need. Every trip below links to its own page with full pricing, inclusions and exclusions.

    Beginner-friendly paddles

If you have never paddled before, start with the Penguin Kayaking trip from Simon's Town harbour (rated Beginner), or the Langebaan Lagoon and Britannia Bay paddles on the West Coast. The Hermanus and False Bay coastal tours suit beginners who are comfortable swimmers. Miller's Run, the Kommetjie–Scarborough run and the Cape Point expedition are for experienced ocean paddlers only.

    Meeting your guide

Kayaking trips are not hotel-pickup tours: you meet your guide at the launch point listed above. Shared shuttles from Cape Town, private transfers and ski trailers can be arranged and are quoted separately on each trip page — including the Fish Hoek to Miller's Point shuttle.

    Equipment and safety

Every paddle includes an experienced ocean guide, a full briefing, craft (surfski, sea kayak or touring kayak depending on the trip), PFD and leash, with marine VHF carried on the water and live wind, swell and shark-spotter monitoring. All necessary kayaking equipment is included in the advertised trip price, with no separate equipment hire charge.

What to bring & ocean conditions

Bring swimwear and a quick-dry layer, a cap, polarised sunglasses with a strap, reef-safe sunscreen, a light windbreaker and a water bottle. Every trip is forecast-led: we watch wind, swell and shark-spotter reports and reschedule rather than run a marginal day, so keep some flexibility in your dates.
