The world's best land-based whale watching
Hermanus's deep, sheltered Walker Bay sits on the southern right whale's annual migration path. Pregnant females arrive in early June to calve in the warm shallow waters, and males follow shortly after — often breaching, lobtailing and spy-hopping just metres from shore.
Our private guided tours from Cape Town combine a scenic drive through the coastal Overberg, time on the famous Hermanus Cliff Path, and the option of a permitted boat-based whale watching trip with one of only three licensed operators in the bay.
