    Fitness requirements

Strong cardio and hiking fitness required. You should be comfortable with a long, full mountain day (6–7 hours in total including transfers) and sustained steep ascents.

Heights & scrambling: Advanced, steep and fully exposed full mountain day; non-technical summit push.

Duration shown is the published total including transfers; walking time varies with pace and conditions.

    About the route

The Devil's Peak Hike climbs the eastern shoulder of Table Mountain to 1,000 metres, with arguably the most complete panoramic view in Cape Town — the city bowl, Lion's Head, Table Mountain itself, Robben Island and False Bay all visible at once.

It's longer, steeper and quieter than Platteklip Gorge, and is best treated as a serious mountain day rather than a casual hike.

We meet on Tafelberg Road for a thorough briefing. The trail begins along the contour path before swinging up onto Mowbray Ridge.

The middle section is a sustained climb up the saddle between Devil's Peak and the main table. The final summit push is steep but non-technical, with knockout views in every direction.

We descend the same route at a careful pace. Expect a full mountain day with proper time on the summit.
