About the route
The India Venster Hike is the adventure scrambler's way up Table Mountain. It follows the dramatic front face directly below the cableway, with chained scrambles, narrow ledges and continuously open views of the city bowl.
This route is not signposted and carries real exposure. We only run it as a private guided experience for confident, fit hikers with no fear of heights.
Meet your guide at the Lower Cable Station for a thorough briefing and a gear check. The route starts gently along the contour path before swinging up onto the rock.
From there it's a sustained hands-on climb with several chain sections and a few committing moves. Your guide spots each section and walks you through the holds. The reward is the famous Diving Board ledge — one of the most iconic photo spots in Cape Town.
You summit at the cableway, take in the panorama, and normally descend by cable car (ticket paid separately; weather dependent).

Safety note: India Venster includes scrambling, exposure and sections that may not suit guests who are scared of heights. The guide may recommend a different route if the guest's fitness, confidence or weather conditions are unsuitable.
Cableway: Table Mountain cableway tickets are not included and are paid separately. Cableway operations are weather dependent; if the cableway is closed, an alternative descent or route may be required, which may not fit the same itinerary or timing.

All Cape Town hikes are private guided hikes for your group only. Prices include a private registered hiking guide, bottled water, trail snacks, headlamps where needed, and return hotel pickup and drop-off within the central Cape Town pickup area — confirm your hotel when enquiring. Larger private groups are welcome and we arrange suitable transport for your group size. The published hiking rates cover 1–10 guests; for 7–10 guests, any additional transport or guide costs are quoted separately before confirmation. Groups of 11 or more are welcome and receive a custom quotation.
